Weekly update 24/5 - Milt Ward, Freddy Cole, Brenton Wood, Lorez Alexandria, Sound Investment and more!

I welcome you all this edition of the Record Mania weekly update with a very decent amout of interesting and great records, especially in the jazz section as you can see below. A respectable amount of soul 7"s for fans of this smaller type of record - often rotating at 45 rpm (prolonging the lower back health of DJ's worldwide since 1949), some great soul LPs, high quality Hip Hop and Reggae along with some Rock records that we haven't stocked before and some "big ticket items" for the collectors. If you're in town, this friday happens to coincide with payday (for most Swedes), which should be an even bigger reason to put one foot in front of the other (and repeat that procedure until you've reached Östgötagatan 2) than Record Store Day!

In case you've been sleeping under a rock, and haven't had access to the Record Mania blog under that said rock, don't forget to listen to our friend Kalle Stringbergs mix that went online this week. Kalle will be throwing a party this Saturday, the 25th of May, at the Lighthouse club here in Stockholm which you can read more about in the blog post about the mix.

We'd like to remind you about the Stockholm Soul Weekender also taking place at The Lighthouse on the 7th and 8th of June, where our poster boy/store front/record store clerk extraordinaire Carl Hedberg will be playing alongside some great names like Wayne Arbon, Brett Franklin, Alex Subinas, Punky Östlund, Karl Marthon and Jens Chreisti.

Last but not least: if you think this week's Jazz additions are too "boring", next weeks update will have a heavy focus on interesting Free Jazz & Avantgarde, with titles on FMP and other interesting labels.

See all records added this week with our New in stock-feature:

New in stock

Or in our newsletter, if you don't already subscribe to it. If you miss out on something you really wanted, remember to add it to your automated want-list. That way you'll get a heads-up the next time we have it in stock.
And take a look at a couple of the more exclusive records below:

Rare jazz LP featuring Carlos Garnett and Cecil McBee.

Rarest album by the Oogum Boogum-man, with the nice Northern Soul-dancers "Sweet Molly Malone" and "Cross the bridge".

Great LP with the mellow "I want to be your special man" and the modern/crossover dancers "We need love" & "She'll never say it".

Killer funk boogie on this scarce 12", and has a photo of Derrick Gordon sporting his hottest swimming trunks on the back cover.

Philly soul magic by Bobby Eli, on this rare 12" promo.

The still rare 2nd issue of Nat King Cole's brothers finest moment, with "Brother where are you".

Great independent jazz with Dadisi Komolafe, and a nice version of "Little B's poem".

Rare japanese only LP with the dancefloor firestarter "Send in the clowns". One more Japan-only Lorez Alexandria LP added this week too.

Nice mini LP on Casino by the man Ragland, from 1985.

Unofficial release of recording from his live show in Stockholm 1974, made in only 200 copies.

Wonderful jazz LP from this always reliable artist.

Great soul LP that is as good as it is rare, and as rare as this copy is minty fresh.

Rare Tomasz Stanko LP frmo 1973 with a progessive sound. Two more LPs by Stanko added this week as well.
